Remembering Grandma Carolyn
This picture was taken the day Grandma Carolyn met my grandson, Graham for the first time. He is her second great-great-grandchild. I love this five-generation picture with Grandma, my mom, myself, Graham, and my daughter Jaci.
I feel so blessed to have had Grandma Carolyn in my life. And what a huge blessing it was to have our children get to know their great-grandparents so well, even though we lived so far away (it took 3 hours to drive each way). My sweet grandma Carolyn passed away on August 16th, just days after we purchased Hive & Home. I felt it such an honor to be able to see her just a couple of days before she passed. She is already missed dearly. Grandma Carolyn had a HUGE impact on my life. Through her sweet, quiet example I learned to love to serve others with a willing heart. As a pre-teen and teenager I was able to work alongside her as she prepared for many church activities; preparing food, making decorations, and serving food at events. I never once heard her complain. Even though Grandma wasn't telling me what to do, I learned by watching and observing. She was happy and she helped bring so much joy into the lives of others. What I learned from my Grandma has had such a profound impact on me that Joe and I even named our youngest daughter after her. So today I want to share a little bit of my heart and my heritage with you. Every year my sweet Grandma Carolyn made Pumpkin Roll in the fall and sometimes as a Christmas treat and I'm sharing her recipe with you. May you find joy and happiness as you share this delicious fall dessert with those who are dear to you in your life. Make some wonderful memories as you gather together and enjoy each other's company this season, whether it's with friends or family.
