Sunflowers have become a symbol of peace, unity, and support for Ukraine. The Sunflower (Sunyashniki in Ukrainian) has long been seen as a symbol of peace in Ukraine. In the summer of 1996 sunflowers were planted by officials at the Pervomaysk missile base in in Southern Ukraine to mark the removal of nuclear weapons from the country.  What a beautiful way to celebrate. The sunflower is also the country flower of Ukraine.

Ukraine has a special place in our heart! Our oldest daughter Auvi runs our social media. I am sure you have seen her on IG. She is the cute brunette that pops on.  When she was 17 she left to teach abroad for the first time.  Her first teaching assingment was in Ukraine. She fell in love with the people, culture and strength of Ukraine. 

Her love of Ukraine Sunflowers lead her to also live and teach in Lithuania and then serve a mission for our church in Estonia for 18 months.  She is fluent in Estonian, but has great understanding of Ukrainian and Russian. As we watch this war unfold the desires of our heart is to help in any way that we can.  We would like to invite you to help also if you would like.
